What is Chemical Filter?

1. What is Chemical/Gas Phase Filter?

Chemical Filters/Gas Phase Filters by definition is to adsorb and remove the vapors, bad odors, toxic gases and chemical contaminants in the air that are invisible to our naked eyes and harmful for human health. The gas phase filter media in general is mostly made by activated carbons and coconuts charcoals. They are normally installed in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Cooling) systems. (see the image below). Facilitated with the chemical filters, they protect the equipment in the plants and offices from bad odors and corrosion and maintain the staffs’ health.

2. The features & advantages of Chemical/Gas Phase Filters

Gas phase filter is functioned for odors removal with purified active carbon pore volume. Active carbon is an organic solvent composed of active carbon pore volume. The substances are odorless, tasteless and insoluble in water. With high quality adsorption for organic macromolecular substance microconstituent, pigment, bad odor substance. The effects are achieved by physical and chemical absorption.

  • High contamination removal efficiency
  • Odor control for demanding IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) applications
  • Available in a variety of styles to fit your HVAC retrofit needs
  • Low pressure drop
  • High carbon Loading
  • High air permeability
  • Excellent polishing filters where high contaminant concentrations are involved.
  • Media options for improved removal of specific gases, such as ammonia & amines acid gas, VOCs

3. Applications

GAS PHASE chemical filters are designed for effective gas-phase removal of medium and low concentrations of gas-phase contamination in fresh air and recirculation air handling systems. The packs are arranged in a V-shape or Carbon Loaded Web Type to utilize max amounts of media for the given face area.

High Efficiency GAS PHASE filters are well suited for demanding HVAC applications in semiconductor industry, TFT-LCD (Thin film transistor liquid crystal display) industry, pharmaceutical industry, Food and Beverage industry, hospitals, airports and other installations areas where indoor air quality problems can be found. The chemical filters are applied in a variety of standard or customized sizes which can easily fit into most existing HVAC units and new construction.

4. The types of Chemical/Gas Phase Filters

A. Carbon Loaded Web Type Chemical Filters

The chemical/gas phase filters remove the acid gases like HCI (hydrochloric acid), H2S (Hydrogen sulfide), SO2 (Sulphur dioxide), NO2 (Nitrogen dioxide), H2SO4 (Sulfuric acid), and other gases including Ammonia, Amides and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), etc. They can remove the indoor airborne contaminants and bad odors with high volume. High efficiency activated carbon air filters can be widely applied in areas with HVAC systems such as commercial buildings, hospitals, airports, and other indoor areas required.

B. V Bank Gas Phase filters

The V bank activated carbon filters are normally used in the industrial applications of the HVAC systems. They are applied to remove the chemical gases, bad odors in the work surroundings such as pharmaceutical, chemical, constructional industries. What is more, they are able to trap and remove the chemical odors/particles including HCI, H2S, SO2, NO2, H2SO3, and VOCs, that is harmful our health. The V bank chemical filters can be also worked along with HEPA filters that makes the filtration with higher efficiency.

C. Honeycomb Activated Carbon Filters

Honeycomb activated carbon filters are made by the polypropylene honeycomb shapes as carriers, and filled in with granulated activated carbon in the filter which enable the filters to remove the harmful gas, smoke, formaldehyde, odors, bad smells, dust and airborne bacteria.
